Device Support: Glass Break Sensor

Frequently asked questions

Yes. While rare, it’s possible for a dropped glass, a dropped pan, and surround sound systems to set off a glass break.

A glass break detector professionally mounted by a Guardian technician are designed to not only listen for the sound of breaking glass, but also the percussion of the impact.

These devices are typically mounted opposite of windows. If broken glass is detected, a signal will be sent to our monitoring team.

The dimensions of a glass break detector are H 3.5 inches x W 2.4 inches.

Glass breaks are great for monitoring rooms with multiple ground-level, easy-to-reach windows. This is useful when monitoring for the sound of glass shattering that might indicate a break-in. These devices pick up where door and window sensors leave off. While window sensors are very effective, if a burglar smashes a window instead of opening it, glass breaks become a vital layer of protection.
