Installing your Guardian Smoke Detector is easy! Simply watch the video below and follow the steps.

Important: You will need to put your system on test mode before you begin your installation. This is to ensure authorities are not sent due to an accidental alarm going off. Simply log into your Guardian account and select “testing my system” on the right-hand side. Them follow the steps provided. Your system will be on test mode for 4 hours.

For this install you may need a ladder or step stool. You will also need a Phillips screwdriver.

To prepare your detector for installation:

  1. Remove all items from the box. You should have the smoke detector, mounting screws, and three AAA batteries.
  2. Remove the back of your smoke detector.
  3. Go to your security panel and select the top menu bar. Then select settings.
  4. Select advanced settings and enter your master code.
  5. Select security sensors and then auto learn.
  6. Install the three AAA batteries supplied in the smoke detector box. This will auto learn the sensors into your system.
  7. Select ok on the notification that appears on the screen.
  8. Name the sensor from the top right corner using the drop down.
  9. Hit add new.

To perform a cellular test:

  1. Select the top menu bar and select settings.
  2. Select advanced settings and enter your master code.
  3. Select system tests.
  4. Select cellular test.
  5. Press the start button.

To install your smoke detector:

  1. Using the screws provided, mount the base of the detector in the area you would like to install.
  2. Line up the arrows on the smoke detector and the base and turn clockwise to lock it in place.
  3. Test your system by pressing the test button on the smoke detector for 5 seconds.

Tip: Do not install your smoke detector in or around a bathroom, near ceiling fans, near windows, near sliding glass doors, or near cooking appliances
