Over Seventy Years of Experience
In 1975, a young Pittsburgh entrepreneur purchased a small security company from a local jewelry store owner who had started the business in 1950 out of a need for a security system for his jewelry store. The entrepreneur named the company Guardian Protection Services and worked hard to grow it, installing by day and prospecting in the evenings, often bringing with him as a calling card a fresh loaf of bread from a favorite Pittsburgh bakery. People welcomed him into their homes and his hard work paid off with the company growing and becoming recognized and respected. In 1991, the Armstrong Group of Butler, Pennsylvania, a cable operator who also owned a successful security systems company named Mastertech, acquired Guardian and merged the two; retaining the name Guardian Protection Services.
A Look Back at Our Logos
We may have changed our appearance over the many years we have been in this business, but our mission has always stayed the same.
Pre-2014
Guardian Protection — originally known as Guardian Protection Services — continues to be the family-owned business that it was when founded in 1950. Since the start, we have been protecting homes and businesses with professionalism and state-of-the-art technology. These early days are best marked by our original logo, which sported magenta chevron lines and a bright purple font.
2014 – 2019
In 2014, we decided to begin rebranding our recognizable logo. However, we still stayed true to the original logo’s concept by maintaining the chevron accents and brand coloring.
2019 and On
In more ways than one, things began to look a lot different in 2019. During this year of change, we redesigned our logo to incorporate new shield imagery and put aside the red chevron accents. With this rebrand, our colors became more distinct and reflective of a strong and growing security provider. Our emphasis on purple represents a feeling of strength, energy, and ambition that our team exemplifies every day. Though Guardian Protection Services is still our legal name, to simplify and strengthen our branding moving forward, we began embracing the name Guardian Protection.
