DIY Battery Replacement for
Image Sensor

  1. PLACE YOUR SYSTEM ON TEST
    Before changing the battery, ensure the system is disarmed and go to Guardian's Customer Care Website. You may also contact our Customer Service Department at 1-888-895-4805 to have your system placed on test. This ensures Guardian doesn't accidentally notify the authorities.

  2. LOCATE THE BATTERY
    **NOTE: The keypad may beep when the cover is removed
    Locate the Image Sensor that has the low battery. Hold the back section of the Image Sensor in one hand and using your other hand, gently slide the front section up to release it from the mounting bracket. There is no need to remove the mounting bracket from the wall.

    REPLACE THE BATTERY
    Remove the existing batteries and install the replacement batteries paying attention to polarity. Ensure positive (+) end of the battery matches the positive (+) symbol. Once the batteries are installed, reattach the front cover by sliding it back into place.

  3. RESET YOUR SYSTEM
    You will need to clear the Tamper alert from the keypad by completing a Sensor Test.
  4. For a Simon XT - Press the down arrow key until you see "System Tests" on the display. Press OK. Enter your four digit master code, and then press OK. Scroll to "Sensor Test", press OK. Allow the system to scroll through all of your sensors, then press the Status button three times to remove the Sensor Test and return to the main display.
  5. For a Simon XTi - Press the Settings (gear) icon in the lower right hand corner of the display screen. Press the down arrow key to scroll to "System Tests", press Enter. Enter your master code. Select "Sensor Test" and allow the system to check the sensors to recognize the battery change.
  6. Visit Customer Care Website or contact Guardian's Customer Service Department at 1-888-895-4805 to have your system removed from Test Mode.

  7. TEST YOUR SYSTEM
    Test your system to make sure everything is working properly and return to Customer Care Website or contact Guardian's Customer Service Department at 1-888-895-4805 to have your system removed from Test Mode. Dispose of the old battery properly. Some areas may offer a battery recycling center.
